POSITION:

LAN/Desktop Support Analyst

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·1 Assesses the needs of TC clients and recommends custom or off-the-shelf hardware/software solutions from TIMSD’s pre-approved list in consultation with TIMSD technical groups.

·2 Provides technical expertise and advice in the area of performance measurement and capacity planning for hardware and software.

·3 Conducts performance measurement and capacity planning studies

·4 Develops technical standards, practices and procedures

·5 Performs hardware life-cycle management under the guidance of the LAN Manager

·6 Participates in multidisciplinary teams in developing technical solutions to meet TC needs

Technology Implementation

·1 Installs and configures LAN servers and network peripherals such as tape units, printers, scanners, PDAs, CD ROM towers and UPS

·2 Installs and configures operating systems, application software, and various software automation tools and utilities on servers and workstations

·3 Develops and maintains technical documentation

Technology Support

·1 Provides level 3 problem support to TC users

·2 Provides LAN administration and maintenance such as populating Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and the addition/deletion of user and Email accounts

·3 Provides advice and training to users relating to application software

·4 Provides leadership and technical advice to LAN/Desktop Support Administrators and Workstation Hardware Support Analysts.

·5 Attends status meetings and working group sessions as appropriate.
